In 1993, The County of Lennox and Addington, with funding assistance from the Province of Ontario, undertook a $5.5 million heritage restoration and expansion of the Courthouse. The project included restoration of the building to its original grandeur, replacement of the original slate roof, repairing and repointing of the masonry, underpinning of the foundation, reframing and recovering of the cupola and the construction of a sympathetic addition off the north side of the building. A considerable quantity of the original chair purchase was still extant and these were restored to their original stencilled design.
The heritage restoration project has ensured that the Courthouse will serve the modern era while continuing to showcase its distinguished past. For more information on the Courthouse, please click here.
