| Addington
Highlands

Just three hours from Toronto, 1.5 hours from Ottawa, and 1 hour from Kingston, Addington Highlands is a natural playgroud for lovers of the great outdoors. The area is home to over 100 lakes, rivers and streams that are perfect for fishing, canoeing, and other water-related activities. In the winter, some of these waterways provide links to hundreds of kilometres of snowmobiling trails..
Due to its elevation, Addington Highlands is the location
of the headwaters for several major water systems including
the Mississippi and Madawaska Rivers that drain into the Ottawa
River. In addition, Skottamatta and Joeperry Lakes are the
sources for the Moira River that empties into the Bay of Quinte
at Belleville.
Located in the centre of the Highlands is
Bon Echo Provincial Park. Over 190,000 visitors flock to the
park, and Mazinaw Rock, each year. The Rock towers 100 m (330')
above Mazinaw Lake, which is 144 m (475') deep. Writings on
the cliff side include 200 aboriginal rock paintings.
There are plenty of campgrounds, cottages,
motels, and trailer parks in the Addington Highlands to serve
the needs of the traveller. In addition, the communities of
Cloyne, Denbigh, Flinton, Kaladar, and Northbrook provide
the amenities that outdoor lovers require.
